Thrifting for classical music for just over a month. Decided CDs needed NFC tags.

I used to listen to loads of classical music, but I found spotify just wasn’t working for me. Thrifting for CDs has really rekindled my interest in music.

I rip everything to flac for playback over Plex, but I felt that I was missing some of that tactile, personal library feel that I got from inserting the CD into a player. I put NFC tags on the boxes so when I scan the box with my phone that disk plays on my speakers through home assistant.

Maybe this is sacrilege, but I mostly listen to my CD collection by ripping to FLAC and then playing through Plex.

I decided that it might be fun if I could ’physically’ play my CDs so I added NFC stickers which I can scan with my phone and Home Assistant will play the ripped flac through my speakers.
