Need advice: Can a mall be held liable for an injury on their premises?

Hi everyone, I wanted to get your thoughts on something that happened recently and whether this is something worth pursuing legally.

Me and my husband was at a mall in BGC when an incident happened that resulted in my husband needing a surgery for his kneecap (fell at the parking lot due to the floors being wet, while trying to get into our car). From my perspective, it seems like there may have been some negligence involved (e.g., lack of warning signs, poor maintenance, etc.).

Because of the incident, my husband will have to undergo open reduction internal fixation surgery, how may sessions of physical therapy and 6 months of not being able to do anything strenuous, not to mention the expenses as well. I also tried raising this with the mall management, but their response was dismissive and offered little to no help at all.

Now I’m considering whether I should file a formal complaint or even pursue a case, but I’m unsure if this actually has legal grounds or if I’m overthinking it.

A few questions:
\- Do malls have legal responsibility for incidents like this inside their premises?
\- Would this fall under negligence or liability in the Philippines?
\- Has anyone here experienced something similar? What did you do?
\- Is it worth pursuing, or will this likely go nowhere?

I’m just trying to understand my options before taking any serious steps. Appreciate any insights or experiences you can share. Thanks!
