Mother has early dementia, troubles understanding and specifically language(Anomia). My younger brother commits financial elder abuse against her quite frequently, though not direct stealing he suggests and prods for money all the time, and she wants to give him large amounts of money. I need to protect her from this ASAP(They both believe its OK) and also in the process of selling her home. Do you think POA is possible with her current state of dementia, or would I have to go through the courts? I don't think I can sell her house without first making sure that money won't be accessible by my brother, and her specifically, I don't trust her with having large amounts of money and giving it away.
