Cat goes to the bathroom out of his box, so he has to be in a kennel.

Hi everyone, this is my beautiful boy, Duck.

Ever since we rescued him when he was a kitten, he has pooped outside the litter box frequently (not all the time). We do have a designated room with the litter boxes, so it’s always just been in that room.

In the last month, he has begun to poop, sometimes pee, and sometimes even throw up around the house. My boyfriend brought him to the vet and they tried to take his bloodwork, but they say he is too aggressive—which he can be. He hisses, bites, and tries to scratch you when you try to put him in his carrier, but other than when you try to do that, he’s a normal cat who at times lets you pet him, but at other times, he does run away from you if you get too close because he was neglected as a kitten. Anyway, they couldn’t do his bloodwork, they prescribed antibiotics which he finished, but he’s still going. We keep him in a kennel for a majority of the time because we live with his dad, and he gets upset when he finds the poop/vomit.

We also cannot afford multiple visits to try to figure out what’s going on, and we don’t know what to do since the vet doesn’t even know what to do with him being aggressive. My boyfriend wants to rehome him, but I just want him to get better.

EDIT:
Hi everyone, thank you for your feedback. Duck is out of his kennel and he won’t be returning into it. My vet actually gave me the kennel, so I assumed that it was fine to do, but I realize it’s doing more harm than good. Thanks.
