I thought I was late going into the water this year, but it seems lots of boat owners here are not going this year at all. How has the oil crisis hit boating where you live?
Usually here on the Rhine boating season starts around easter. Due to some upgrades and repairs on my boat I only managed to get it launched this weekend. But so many slips are empty here, and the larger boats that are in the water look rough, still dirty from winter and tied down with tarps, they clearly have not been used yet. We had perfect weather, 25C and sunshine.
The only other boats that look like they’ve been used recently are small boats with small economical engines like mine.
I‘m really shocked to see it and worried what that might mean for the infrastructure we depend on for the hobby.
How does it look where you live? Are people boating less this year?
