I made a reddit account just to ask for advice because I am so lost in where to start for careers development.

I have been doing mathematics PGDE in Scotland, but I was told that I am likely to fail my placement resit. This means that I will be forced to withdraw from the course. I focused all my time and effort into this course and now I don't know what career I should go into. I have asked AI, but I don't trust it's reliability. I have booked a careers appointment with my university, but I would also like to ask the general opinion of reddit so I can form more opinions.

This is my CV (it's linear in the timeline, there are no gaps):

  • 2:1 Mathematics and psychology (distinct modules) - dissertation researching if music ability effects mathematical ability.
  • 1 year as an English language instructor at a school in Thailand
  • 1 year as an assistant language teacher in Japan
  • PGDE secondary mathematics. About to fail placement resit. However, I have passed all theory modules.

I have extremely basic matlab experience. Other than that, I don't have any other coding experience, but I am willing to learn before applying to jobs.

I would like advice on what careers I should look into. My job preference involves something making use of maths. Ideally, it involves Psychology as well, but it's not essential. I'm looking for something that I am competitive in and pays well. My main focus is good salary and good employment rate given my CV.

Thank you for reading and thank you for your time. I really appreciate any responses whether it's useful or not.
