Advice on an Invoice from an Attorney

I worked with an attorney to help advise on a contract dispute. Started over a year ago in April 2025. First invoice was in November 2025. It was only a few hundred dollars after the retainer was applied.

Fast forward to April 2026, I receive another invoice. This one has 6 billable hours that are plainly duplicated from the November invoice (same dates, same hours, same time sheet notes). Not only that, but it also has billable hours scattered all around April 2025-November 2025 that were not included on November’s invoice.

I did email since 6 hours are duplicated, but I’m also upset since it appears hours were omitted from the December invoice. Not to mention, I now question everything since it just seems so odd.

Obviously, I’m waiting to hear from the attorney on their position for this, but what would you do here? Is it fair to be upset? Are there ethical rules or legal obligations on not just invoicing randomly?
