Training for new drinks

Okay I’m probably in the minority here but I just have to ask where y’all’s heads are at cause I can’t relate lol

When there is training for new drinks, I do the training. If it follows the same process as other drinks, I might skim the training, but that’s because I’m confident in my ability to execute the new beverages. If the training is covering something entirely new, ie protein drinks, the new refresher bases, new chai, etc.. I am going to read the training in its entirety. Im going to go back if I don’t understand something. I’m going to make sure I physically make the drinks so I know how to make them and my muscle memory can start getting used to making it differently.

A lot of my coworkers don’t do this. They skim through the training, don’t read all the new things, and then act like a fish on dry land the second it all launches. The amount of my coworkers who had no clue that our regular refreshers now have the green coffee extract and it’s not just in the energy ones was concerning. Like did y’all even read the training?? I’m not saying it isn’t a lot of information or that it isn’t confusing, because it is, but that’s why I keep double and triple checking number of pumps on recipe cards and ensuring I’m making the drinks correctly. Most of my coworkers are just flying by the seat of their pants and doing whatever tf they feel like, and not even checking their resources after they know they did it incorrectly!!

I just want to know why yall do this 😭 I know more than anyone that we are paid dirt wages and it’s easy to not care.. but isn’t it more of a headache to not know what you’re doing and have to remake drinks constantly? To have customers annoyed and confused because you don’t know what you’re talking about?

I was on drive bar yesterday and it got to the point that I was moved to cold bar simply because I was “the only person who knew how to make the new drinks”…. Like ?!?!?!?

When I sent two of my baristas to do this training a couple weeks ago, they both came back after *10 mins* and said they were done, but also said they had no idea what they’d just read and were gonna for sure make the drinks wrong. Why didn’t they just take a bit more time to read the training then 🫠

I think I’m just slightly crashing out about this because I’m a shift and I have to deal with the upset customers not getting what they asked for and baristas just usually don’t care. I don’t know how to make them care but this is frustrating for me lol
