My favourite Ashwin’s spells in tests:

1. 6/41 against Australia, Bengaluru(2017) - Probably the best I've seen him bowl in terms of rhythm and guile and also considering how tantalizingly the match was poised. He really rose to the occasion when it mattered the most and won us the match when we could've easily lost it.

2. 5/51 against England, Ranchi(2024) - After a mediocre performance in the first innings, he really turned it around in the second innings when the game was on a knife-edge.

3. 3/57 & 3/92 against Australia, Adelaide (2018) - His best performance in Australia in terms of picking up important wickets. India needed a spinner to hold one end up but he ended up doing much more than that.

4. 4/62 and 3/59 against England, Edgbaston (2018) - His dismissals of Cook in both the Innings summed it up. It had everything in it- He drew Cook forward, got the ball to drift in, dip wickedly and turn away to hit the off stump on both the occassions. Probably the best spell he has bowled in overseas. It's a shame that we ended up losing the match but his performance cannot be understated.

5. 3/72 against England, Vishakapatnam(2024) - England were going great guns in the second innings in their quest to chase 390 odd on what was still a good pitch but Ashwin had his own ideas. With England doing well against him at Hyderabad, he had to device new gameplans to counter them and he did it with aplomb by coming around the wicket to Joe Root and deceiving him with the dip. Moreover, he looked in great rhythm throughout his spell. Probably the best he looked in the fag end of his career.

MI might be facing the Karma of a possible unethical deal on buying back Pandya from GT.

How much did MI pay to buy back Pandya from GT? Now, nobody knows this.

While there have been reports of a transfer fee of 100Cr paid by MI(it's within the rules), isn't the transfer fee unethical? If this is the case, rich Franchise can offer to pay how much ever they want to buy players. Then what's the purpose of an auction? If it's within the rules, why can't they disclose the amount?

There's also a fear of rich Franchise attracting players to join them by offering them huge amounts. Not a good development.

He was in control of the ball but he wasn't in control of his movement. The ball touched the ground before he had completed his movement(sliding - 2nd bit of the first image). In other words, the ball touched the ground while he was still in his act of sliding. Hence, not out.

Nostalgic merchants might get offended but the current generation of players are better players than the previous generation (I'm not talking about exceptions like Sachin) in tests.

If the current pitches were dished out to those previous generation players, even they'd have struggled.

  1. Srinivasan was appointed as the BCCI secretary in 2008 and was the owner of CSK as well. Since this led to conflict of interest which was in the BCCI clause as well, he changed the rules so that he could head both the positions. Basically, he could bring in any rule in the IPL to benefit his team. This continued till 2015 when the SC eventually struck down upon him.

  2. Srinivasan was also against women's cricket. He once openly quoted that if he had his way, he wouldn't allow women's cricket since they had no business in playing sports. Such a misogynist.

  3. Betting scandal in 2013. That sealed envelope never revealed the names of those 13 cricketers. I'm sure there were some high-profile cricketers involved.

  4. Influencing in changing the rules with regards to uncapped player to accomodate Dhoni in 2025. Unfairly acquiring Flintoff in 2009. Read more about this here

  1. Fans of CSK hoping for the top order to be dismissed just to see Dhoni batting. Ask Jadeja. Giving cult status to Dhoni and trying to make him greater than the game.

  2. Personally I've been mocked by CSK fans many times in the past even though I never said anything.

I'm investing in the below Mutual Funds. Kindly advise:

Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund Direct Growth: 12.5K

HDFC small cap Fund Direct Growth: 4.5K

HDFC mid cap Fund Direct Growth: 4.5K

Nippon Large Cap Fund Direct Growth: 7.5K

Risk Appetite: Aggressive

Risk tolerance: High

Goal: To buy a house

Horizon: 10-15 years

I have a simple strategy: Invest in 1 small cap, large cap, mid cap and Flexi Cap

Reasons to choose the above Funds:

PPFC: It saves me when the Market is crashing. It also has international exposure

HDFC mid and small cap: Very old funds, have seen Market crashes before and hence they know how to navigate through crashes. Mid cap has a lower Beta compared to it's peers. So, it kind of offers a protection during downside.

Small Cap has stakes in 83 companies. So, it's diversified

Nippon Large Cap: It has good historical returns, comparatively less Beta and since it's a large cap, it'll offer some protection during Market crashes. It has a big AUM, hence lower transactional costs. Biggest thing is it's Fund Manager who has been at the helm for more than 15 years. It also fits my long-term goal mindset.

Sorry if I'm offending anyone here but just a thought - Since Muslim women wear Burqa so that men can't see their faces and thus not get attracted or stir passions, doesn't the same happen to women when they see men? Doesn't it stir passions as well? Then why don't Muslim men wear Burqa?
