Doing customer discovery for AML software built for community banks — would love 20 min with a BSA officer

Background: I'm a software engineer exploring building an AML compliance tool specifically for community banks (sub-$1B assets). I'm not selling anything, just genuinely trying to understand if the problem is as bad as it looks from the outside before I invest months building something.

From my research, the pain points seem to be:

- Legacy platforms priced for JPMorgan, not a 12-person compliance team

- False positive overload eating analyst time

- Staff wearing 5 hats, no capacity for proper CDD

- Regulatory pressure increasing while budgets stay flat

But I could be wrong about what actually hurts. That's why I'm here.

If you work in AML/BSA at a community bank or credit union and would be willing to spend 20 minutes telling me where the real friction is (and where I'd be wrong), I'd genuinely appreciate it. I'm not going to pitch you, I just want to hear about your experiences
