Hello everyone, I reside in California and have secured a position with a large non-profit organization. I was informed that I will be classified as an exempt employee, meaning I will be compensated for a 40-hour workweek regardless of hours worked, provided I fulfill the responsibilities of my role. One of my primary concerns is experiencing guilt when I need to leave; consequently, I remain at my desk throughout the day to avoid the appearance of idleness. For those occupying senior roles within non-profit organizations, how do you effectively manage your responsibilities, especially considering the necessity of external networking, while also managing feelings of guilt when departing?
