deciding between cal poly slo and ucsb as a premed

hiii so i was accepted+commited to cal poly slo as a chem major, but i recently got off the waitlist for UCSB, so I was wondering if you guys had any input? here are the pros/cons that I've been able to gather so far for slo:

Pros

  • More connection to prof/peers bc smaller class sizes
  • learn by doing leads to more technical skills
  • No grad students on campus so research might be easier to get(but opportunities still seem somewhat minimal)

Cons

  • know nobody going there
  • really hard to switch majors
  • also slightly hard to get clinical exp
  • slight lack of racial diversity/asian community in the surrounding area

UCSB
Pros

  • nice campus, have friends that going there
  • Larger asian community
  • Bigger in terms of research opportunities
  • No grade deflation afaik

Cons

  • parties/social life is really high - i’m not really a party person, and am worried that it could get distracting
  • slightly hard to get clinical experience b/c it’s a bit isolated
  • some classes may be taught by TAs?

Cal Poly Slo
Pros

  • learn by doing leads to more technical skills

why is most of the waitlist movements im hearing of for engineering? ucb, uci, and ucd were mostly engineering(afaik)

is it likely that bio/chem were just more impacted this year than usual? or will the major waves come later?
