The government cannot rely on the RBA and interest rate rises to crush inflation. It’s outdated and not fit for purpose. The only way out of this mess that I can see is:
- Increase the GST to 20% to curb consumption, particularly in the older generations
- Increase the minimum wage by 10% to counteract the impact of the tax increase and raise the tax free threshold
- Cut income taxes by a commensurate amount so as not to fuck over the working age population
Who says no?
