Hi everyone! I just adopted a wheaten terrier yesterday and I’m so new to the breed, any advice is so appreciated.
Her name is pickles, and she’s a 1 year old. Unfortunately, her previous mom didn’t seem to care about her at all, barely even said bye to her. She hasn’t had a lick of training, doesn’t even know how to sit, and barely even knows her old name. She isn’t fixed since the previous owner was planning on possibly breeding her 🥲
We got her as a friend for our 3.5 yo standard poodle, who was a dream to work with in training. They love each other but when our poodle is winding down for the night, shes done and gets her boundaries pressed by the new pup.
We also have 2 cats, which she hasn’t been terrible about but if they run I think her prey drive is triggered and she might run after them. I’m hopeful we can work out these issues because she’s the sweetest girl.
UPDATE: we just took pickles to her first vet appointment and she is a hermaphrodite!! Seems like most things should be normal throughout her life with a few caveats, has anyone else experienced this?
