Should i tell my best friend about her ex calling me?

My college best friend 21F broke up with her boyfriend 23M about some months ago
They were together for 1.5yrs and met through mutual friend. They broke up on bad term and used to quarrel a lot when they were in a relationship.
We as group used to hang out together when they were in a relationship.
After the break up they blocked each other from everywhere and never broke no contact. My best friend always talks about him and how great he was as well as how bad he did to her.
Her ex called me today asking how is she? Whats going on with her life? If she is going out with others and all? I told him if he still cares so much about her why dont he call her or come to meet her. On which he said that he doesnt wanna be in a relationship. He even told me he would never pick up my bsf's calls or take her back.
Lastly, he said not to tell her that we talked bcz it would f*** her mental health and i agree on that
But as her best friend is it my job to tell her that her ex called to check on her or not?
