The 'red card'/'own goal' reporting of vaguely football related stories in non-football media is a bugbear of many of us, but this feels like a new low. What would it even mean for HMRC to be sent off? Do they miss a tax year or three? Surely if they needed to shoehorn in a football related phrase/concept - VAR is right there and actually pretty apt for a tribunal decision!
