After 25 years of chronic insomnia, mirtazapine (Remeron) has been a game changer for me — but not in the way most people use it.

15mg knocked me out for three days. Even 7.5mg was too much. What finally worked was a tiny dose — around 1mg — which gave me the most natural sleep I'd had in decades. I could fall back asleep when I woke up in the middle of the night. I even started dreaming again.

I use it intermittently — a few days or weeks to catch up on sleep, then a break, sometimes subbing in trazodone as a filler. The main issue for me is dry/scratchy eyes from the antihistamine properties, which forces me to cycle off it.

Has anyone else found a sustainable long-term rhythm with low-dose mirtazapine? Would love to hear how others are managing it.
