After years of dedication, I’m finally unsubscribing to film theory to the recklessness of Lee as a host. Promoting a show where the creators have said problematic things in the past and hurting a group is diabolical. I understand people can grow and learn from their mistakes but Lee should’ve at least acknowledged the controversy. I’m a poc and like many other people, was extremely disappointed by what was said when they were 21, not a child. I’m glad they aren’t racist anymore but I can’t support them at this moment. And because Lee was didn’t say anything and continues to support them, I can’t support film theory anymore.

Lees latest video was about The amazing digital circus with an ending suggesting we will be getting another video about this. Ironically, around the same time, old videos resurfaced showing some pretty disturbing and racist jokes.

Lee needs to mention this in the next video or I’m unsubscribing because i can’t keep watching a lot of these racially insensitive videos. I’m begging because film theory used to be my favorite channel and now it’s one of my least favorites due to Lee in my eyes being problematic.

Matpat would mention this and I’m hoping and begging Lee too as well. And for fans of the show, who are not racist, I implore you as a fan as well but a person of color, I implore you to not watch the show anymore or the upcoming movie. We don’t support racism.
