Putting in a dishwasher at the rental. I'd always wanted to build an island and install a dishwasher, and after my husband died I decided to do it myself.

I bought it, moved it and installed it by myself, in a place where no dishwasher existed.

My 1st horrible renters took it out and put their dishwasher in. They bent the door on mine so badly you couldn't close it.

I removed the bent dishwasher, took it to dump.
Then find, buy, move and install 2nd dishwasher.

Good renter🥰 for a year! Enjoys her dishwasher!

Horrible renter 2
They failed to notice- or notify me when dishwasher started leaking. Leak completely destroys flooring and subfloor in the whole kitchen.

Move dishwasher out. Take to dump. Remove flooring. Remove subfloor. Replace subfloor.

Buy dishwasher 3.

Pick up, load, unload dishwasher and put in place.
**Don't install it because told by floor guy it might interfere with flooring installation.

Flooring installation begins.

As time gets closer- I ask flooring guy if he would install dishwasher? I ask him to install new lights in the kitchen,
install two door knobs, fix one door hinge, & patch a piece of missing trim.
He agrees to this.

** He still has the granite countertop off the island, sitting in the living room.
Also pantry floor wasn't completed, he needed to trim and rehang two doors he removed, put a transition strip in the bedroom, and finish tacking down island floor trim.

Three days later flooring guy says there's a short somewhere when he tried to install kitchen lights & now there is no power in the house.

Electrician $225 an hour. He also installed the lights.
Power finally on!

Lose 5 working days to power outage.
No word from flooring guy.

I install door knobs.
I fix the hinges on door. I attach water line to dishwasher. (Only finger tightened as I had no wrench.)

The flooring still isn't done. The transition strip not installed.

Flooring guy says sorry and he's coming tomorrow..

I pay appliance delivery men $30 to reinstall the granite countertop top while they are there.

I pay to have doors trimmed and hung up.
I pay to have carpet shampooed because the 1st is coming and we have a renter!

Fast forward

May 1st
One day after signed lease with new tenant, the flooring guy texts at 8 am and says- I'll be there this afternoon.

(Btw I still have 1/2 his money. He wanted me to Venmo it. I told him I have it in an envelope in cash.)

Then told him no, this afternoon won't work-the tenant asked for us to be gone by the afternoon. So his movers and workmen weren't on top of each other.

I gave floor guy the tenants number, who relents & said flooring guy could come in the afternoon.

I paid someone else to finish installing the dishwasher this morning.
Told him the plumbing lines to the dishwasher (were attached) without a wrench. It was only finger tightened, so please check the water line for leaks while installing.

Says he did.

I text tenant at 2:00 to please be home when he runs dishwasher the first time.
We leave.

Tenant texts at 4 pm to say there's no water going to dishwasher? I tell him to remove access panel on back of island, reach in and turn the water on.

He does.
It works.
Then the water line comes off and floods everything.

Tenant is a good sport. Cleaned mess. Tightened fittings.

Says it's working well now 😝🤗

*Also says he still has the floor guys money, he never showed up.

The dishwasher.
