Hi. I’m wondering if there’s anything I’m able to do about this particular situation. Basically, neighbor that lives below me in apartment complex BBQs 6 days a week.

Genuinely do not want to cause issues for anyone and I’m not trying to get in the way of someone BBQing but it is getting difficult dealing with it because even with windows closed, the scent of the smoke seeps in through the windows and eventually the whole apartment. I have to close one room off just to mitigate it but it isn’t fully effective. It’s becoming unpleasant coming home to my guest room and most of the apartment smelling like smoke 6 days a week. My bedsheets smell like smoke. I’m worried about prolonged exposure being harmful to my pets. It’s not fun. I do my best to air out the apartment when the BBQing is done but it’s rinse and repeat until the next day.

Also, even thought the smoke isn’t technically “directly” inhaled by us can still be smelled through closed windows, is it a health hazard? We are being exposed to it on an almost daily basis and my lungs weren’t always the best growing up.

My main question though is, is there anything else I’m able to do? I’ve already contacted my landlord twice expressing these concerns and have not received a response the second time I reached out to follow up. I’m going to reach out again soon, but in the meantime I thought I’d ask in case I could learn a thing or two. Thanks for reading.

Edit: To clarify, we already have multiple air purifiers at home with carbon filters.
