Almost 3 years ago i met with an accident - it shattered my lower back and left me paralysed (from waist down).
Doctors said full recovery wasn't possible - and I may have to look at life differently.
I spent months on a hospital bed and somehow stumbled into this subreddit. I started listening to "thock" sounds as it helped me fall asleep. Slowly started wanting keyboards and one goal - to get back on my feet, resume office (yes I was mad passionate about work) and get my life back. This "wanting" got me out of bed.
Fast forward a year and half - I recovered almost fully - collected 4 keyboards for each recovery milestone, bought a new house with my wife, and a shelf on the wall for all of my keyboards (wanted to celebrate them as they are such an integral part of the journey).
Was scared to post it here (KBs on a wall isn't exactly dried flowers and beige vases). But you all loved it and it became one of the top posts of all time on this sub for a while.
That gave me the courage to post on Instagram. Mk/India community found me there too. Was surprised, memory decay is so real on social media, people forget what they scrolled 5 mins ago- but many people remembered my Reddit post! It was very heartening 🥺
We have 20k followers now in 4 months. Featured in a national newspaper. Ranked among top 20 global lighting influencers by Fieldspot.
None of this happens without this sub.
AMA. I'll try to be as open as possible.
(Only two things off the table - exact finances and the society name. rest is fair game)!
TLDR: broken back, paralysis, keyboards, 20k instagram, full circle, AMA :)
