SPS MS Sustainability Management and MPA Environmental Science and Policy

Hi! I graduated in 2025 from Columbia with my BS in Chemical Engineering and a minor in political science and I currently work in renewable energy compliance consulting. I am considering looking at going to grad school for a pay bump and am debating the two in the title! I long term want to work in energy policy/law, but I know working on my corporate sustainability and energy skills may be better for the short term. Does anyone have experience with either of the programs and would be willing to chat about their experiences?? Thank you 😄

Best energy/sustainability program

Hi! I am a US applicant who got her undergrad degree from Columbia in Chemical Engineering and Political Science. I have had three internships and currently work in renewable energy consulting (mostly compliance and reporting). I long-term would like to work more in the energy/environmental policy sphere, but I don't want a program that is too policy heavy as I think something more business/management oriented would fare better for my career in the short term. That being said, does anyone have any strong thoughts, opinions, or experiences with any of these programs? Hoping to apply to 3-5 only. Also open to any suggestions not listed, just started looking at options! Thank you 😄
