My daughter (age 2) is a total daddy’s girl. She hates giving me hugs or hanging out with me because she always wants to be with her dad. I had HG for part of this pregnancy which may have scared her but also my parenting stuff (cooking, researching parenting, cleaning, making activities) is a lot more behind the scenes. For instance, after I make her an activity, she won’t want to do it unless dad takes my place. Sometimes, she is so upset to be with me instead of dad, she’ll hit me, pinch me, or pull my hair until dad is able to take her back.

She’s kind of like this with all men. She prefers grandpa to grandma, uncles to aunts, boy cousins to girl cousins, etc.

It’s really hard to go through but I keep reminding myself that I don’t need her affection to be a good parent for her.

I have #2 coming soon (another girl) and I’m just hoping that if someone else went through this, maybe their second was a total flip or their first grew out of this phase at some point.
