Why are letting agencies getting away with charging premium prices for what are basically glorified cupboards?

I’ve been scrolling listings and it’s the same story every time — “spacious double room” that barely fits a bed, priced like it’s a luxury apartment. And don’t even get me started on actually trying to contact them… you call, email, fill out forms, and it’s like shouting into the void.In the past weeks i called multiple agencies and they all send you straight to a voicemail. Is anyone actually working there ?!

Are people actually managing to get viewings or is everyone else being ghosted too? And who is renting these places at these prices??

Genuinely curious — what’s your worst experience with letting agencies? Or is it just me losing my mind at this point?
