Virginia Beach approved both the Convention Center and the Sportsplex after feasibility studies promised parking wouldn’t be an issue—because events supposedly wouldn’t overlap. That assumption clearly didn’t age well. Right now there’s a dance competition, a gun show, and a volleyball tournament all happening at the same time. Parking is a nightmare, traffic is backed up, and people are missing events they paid for because there’s nowhere to park. This is exactly what residents warned about. If the city is going to keep approving major venues, it needs realistic planning to match. Do better, VB. City council, choose a new vendor for your next parking feasibility study.
