[Sad Trope] Genuinely awful mothers.

1. Livia Soprano (The Sopranos): Abusive, narcissistic, emotionally manipulative and just plain miserable, she is mostly responsible for how Tony is. She even almost had him killed just because he wanted to place her in a retirement home, showing absolutely no remorse. She was also a factor in why AJ, her grandson, declined mentally. Sadly, her influence rubbed off on Janice after Bobby’s death.

2. Saki Arima (Your Lie in April): She is vehemently obsessed with making her son, Kōsei, the perfect pianist, often going way too far. She’d beat him repeatedly over little mistakes. After a performance, she beats him with her cane until he bleeds, despite the performance being pretty much flawless.

3. Mrs. Turner (The Fairly OddParents!): Mrs. Turner parents Timmy as well as Mr. Turner does; not well at all. Completely negligent and oblivious to whatever Vicky is doing to Timmy.

To anyone that grew up with a mother like these, please know that it’s not your fault. Be kind to yourself. You are loved. 💙
