Started running right at the end of February. Goal is to hit a 32mi self supported ultra at the start of August. Have been fairly inactive for the last few years. Used to powerlift a bit. Expecting to get told a lot of what I'm doing is wrong. That's fine. Feel like people spend too much time planning the thing, optimizing the thing, thinking about the thing, Im just trying to get out every day and run.
After about two months of running every day I did a little half marathon. Started conservatively as I didn't really taper at all and treated it as a long run. Did the first 8 miles at ~9:50/mi split. Then the last five miles felt decent so did them between 9:01 and 8:27/mi. Final time for 13.1 was 2:04:xx
Since the end of February Ive managed to run daily and work up to a peak of 45mpw two weeks ago. Backed off to 39 last week with the half marathon. Planning to push up to somewhere in the 50-60mpw range and sit there until August. Got a few other fun "races" during that time including a "baby" backyard ultra (3mi every hour on the hour for 6 hours) the week before I hope to hit the ultra. Following the broad rule of increasing mileage of 10% per week, not doing any fancy workouts. Sometimes do some strides, sometimes run harder if feeling good. Enjoying the ride
