Hiya folks!
Recently I built a house! Designed it from scratch, put all my ideas into it, and bang! 10 months later here we are.
I work in IT and as such didnt want most of my home to be smart, at least from the perspective of touching the internet.
I was putting POE in other places, and figured why not put POE shades in… well, theres only a few good options out there.
Anyway, I’ve purchased 4x smartwings POE shades so far.
All 4 are 93” wide, a mix of 60-84” tall.
Install time: 20 minutes
Level, or laser level
Drill
Drill bits
Pencil
Tape measure
The install is pretty easy, a few brackets that go up. You can choose to wall mount them directly, or top mount.
The connection process once you get it up is SUPER simple and you cant really mess it up. Just an rj45 femeal female connection, so your wall must be rj45 male (just make sure you test your POE runs for faults).
The top/bottom stop/adjusting is really simple, looks like you can adjust stops at every 2-3mm or so.
I used the 15 channel remote, so I dont exactly know if you can set these up without it (the website will probably tell you.
The last part of setup for me was moving the shade to my IOT subnet, and adding the shade to a Bond Bridge!
Bond bridge setup:
-You need to choose the Dooya bidirectional, press and hold the “P” button on the back of the remote, then it should just sync up!
-From there you can integrate the bond hub into Home Assistant or Hubitat.
I 3d printed some black covers out of PLA to cover the mounts on top!
I have 6 more shades I need to buy and will 100% be buying all smartwings again.
