I am adjusting a Shimano 600 rim brake and in think I have it centered okay, but the pads are way too close to the rim with the QR closed and still close with it open. The top barrell adjuster is all the way in so I assume the next step is to loosen the pinch bolt, reattach with more slack and then adjust so it doesn't rub?

I'm fixing up an old Trek 1500 which I got after someone had tried to swipe it so when I picked it up the back wheel was hanging off the drop outs. I am assuming this is the original wheel 126 mm freewheel hub (which took a day to soaking in PB to remove) I took it apart/regreased and re assembled it's not dropping back into frame like I am used to with other QR wheels/frames I have used. What am I doing wrong here?

I am doing a cleanup of an old Trek 1500 which was chained up outside for years. On cleaning it up and pulling off chain I noticed the chainstay is pretty chewed up. This bike looks like it has the original BB,/crankset/and I think an 8 speed chain on it.

This looks pretty bad and I am not certain if this is from continuous rubbing or a single bad instance of the chain slipping off?

Suggestions on 1) what to change to prevent this 2) how to clean this up...I am considering light sanding and maybe helicopter tape or a rubber chainstay protector over it

I am trying to remove this Maxle front thru axle from the fork, and it just won't rotate counterclockwise in the cut out. I tried tapping it with a mallet but stopped as the cut out started to bend a bit. I am soaking the ends with PB blaster but any suggestions are welcome . This bike was sitting outside for a few years so I would not be surprised if it's rusty.

Picked up this old 1500 which I think is like an 88-90 which someone converted to 7 speed bar end shifters. It's in pretty decent shape for having been chained up outside for years and an apparent theft attempt. Has anyone squeezed 30c tires on one fo these and if so what brand/model. I know 28s will fit but would like to run 30s with the stock wheels.
