
Great article comparing the backlash to the 'anachronistic' language in the Odyssey trailers to the reaction to Emily Wilson's translation of the Odyssey -- a version that Nolan prefers.
I really respect this creative decision, and if the rationale is anywhere close to what's explained here, I'm confident we're going to get something ambitious. The negative reaction is expected but still disappointing. It seems most people have a specific, fixed idea of what a period piece should look and sound like, and just can't bear seeing something different.
But, again, the choice is quite intentional. Whether it ends up working is in Nolan's hands. Regardless, as long as Jennifer Lame is editing, Goransson is scoring, and van Hoytema is shooting it, I know the movie will at least be solid.
