To all Greek Myth lovers χαῖρε,
We’re developing What the Reeds Heard, a FREE short film based on the Midas episode from Ovid’s Metamorphoses.
The film follows the moment after Midas judges between Apollo and Pan, is punished with donkey ears, and tries to hide his shame - only for the secret to find its way back into the world through the reeds.
Our hope is to make the piece freely accessible and connect people who love Greek mythology with new art inspired by these ancient stories.
I’d be interested to hear how others read this myth. Do you see it as a story about bad judgment, divine punishment, shame, truth-telling, or the impossibility of burying a secret?
