I’m 23F and first noticed a varicose vein last summer. It honestly freaked me out and thought something was seriously wrong with my health.
I saw an angiologist in December and he told me it’s just genetic and nothing to worry about. He also said he’d rather avoid sclerotherapy because I have a minor blood condition that puts me at a slightly higher risk for blood clots, which would mean taking blood thinners for a while. He also said treatment is unnecessary at that point.
I’m really scared of blood clots, so at the time I decided to just accept it, move on, and focus on staying active (I walk a lot and work out daily).
But it’s been a few months now and I still feel pretty bad about it. I feel self-conscious about my leg and uncomfortable wearing dresses. I also catch myself worrying a lot about developing phlebitis and overanalyzing every little sensation in my leg…
Am I overreacting? I booked another appointment to revisit the sclerotherapy option (with blood thinners), but I don’t know… Should I , really ? I kind of feel silly for caring this much.
Anyone else in their early 20s dealing with varicose veins?
