Looking to transition to IT from sales

As the title suggests, I am looking to transition into IT from commission based sales.

The job I have now is incredibly easy and not very demanding, so it has allowed me the time to start doing some learning in a field I have genuine interest in. I have completed the Google IT Support Professional certificate, which definitely helped lay some ground work, but a lot of what I have seen through posts is that certs aren't nearly as valuable as experience.

This is where I come to a crossroads. I know I don't have the "Professional" experience to get a major increase over the pay I currently get, and fully accept the fact that I will likely take a pay decrease to get into the industry, however I'm hoping to minimize that as much as possible if I can.

Where I live also isn't the biggest booming tech industry place around, so remote work is ideally where I am going to fall, plus remote would allow me more time with my children too.

I come to you all seeking advice on what my next steps should realistically be. I know help desk is the easiest entry into the IT world but the pay decrease would be too substantial. To break it down I am trying to stay above at least 55k/yr if at all possible.

What should my realistic expectations be, and what should I move into next as far as learning to better improve my skills and resume to make myself a more desirable candidate?

Thank you all in advance for any and all help and advice.
