Moccamaster KM5-grinder disassembly advice
I'm looking for information on disassembling the KM5 Grinder past its Maintenance Lid. I've noticed that a torx screw holds the lower part of the lid partially on, but I can't get the lid fully off, even with the screw removed. It's as if the grind adjustment knob holds it in place.
So why the interest?
I'm annoyed that the adjustment knob is blocked from going below 1 or above 9, defeating the whole purpose of a seamless adjustable knob. So I'm looking for a way to remove that block or to replace the 50mm burrs to make the grinder more suitable for espresso grinds. I have pulled alright espresso shots with the 1-setting before, but those were from very fresh coffee beans. Predictably, as the beans get staler, the shots become more watery, and have way less crema. Knowing that the KM5 machine is basically an outsourced Eureka grinder, I know it'd function as one, if only I got to access the full machinery.
I'd be thankful for any information or insight on this.
