Concerned about CO levels from gas oven. Landlord keeps “fixing” it himself, wife is pregnant

Hey everyone, I need some perspective on my gas oven. My landlord has been trying to fix it himself (swapping the igniter, tightening the gas line, etc. )but he doesn’t want to bring in a professional. My wife is pregnant, so this has me especially concerned.

I’ve been monitoring CO levels during preheat and cooking with a CO detector. Here’s what I’ve seen:

•	Fluctuates between 20–40 ppm on average, with a peak of 57 ppm during preheat

•	Timeline from a recent test:

•	3:04 pm — preheating done, 10 ppm

•	3:18 pm — 12 ppm

•	3:20 pm — fan on high, venting — 11 ppm

•	3:25 pm — opened patio door \~1 foot from oven

•	3:30 pm — dropped to 9 ppm

•	3:30 closed patio door — see if it stays down

•	3:45— still lingering at 9 ppm

Even with the patio door open so close to the oven, it’s lingering higher than I’d expect, and I’m unsure if these readings are normal or if this is a real health risk — especially with longer cooking sessions.

Should I push for a professional inspection? Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.
