Caught this Song Sparrow in some beautiful morning light.
I really liked how the backlighting caught the texture of the feathers against the dark background. It gave this little guy a much more dramatic presence than usual.
There is something transformative about the quiet moments before the rest of the world wakes up. This morning, the Alberta sky didn't just brighten—it performed.
From the deep, moody indigos and burning oranges of the pre-dawn horizon to the first golden light hitting the wings of a Canada Goose, these are the moments that remind us why we protect our wild spaces. Watching a Robin catch that specific "golden hour" glow while the air is still crisp is a soul-recharging experience that never gets old.
Whether you're out in the wetlands or just catching the sunrise from your porch, there's no shortage of beauty in our backyard.
The Morning Highlights:
The Horizon: A vibrant gradient of fire orange and deep twilight blue.
The Residents: A Canada Goose mid-stretch in the marsh and a Robin perched perfectly in the morning light.
The Vibe: Pure, quiet Alberta magic.
What part of the province are you watching the sun come up from today?
This journey has always been about more than just taking photos—it’s about capturing the soul of Alberta’s wilderness and using art as a tool for conservation. Seeing this mission recognized on such a massive stage is incredible.
