Buy Back Update - 2026 SEL Turbo

I know my last post got down voted, but I did take the advice of a couple of people to lay out my ownership history and the time without a vehicle to see if they would give us anything additional for the inconvenience. I got a response from them today and it looks like they will not offer any additional compensation, whether as a warranty extension, voucher towards a new vehicle, or anything.

The buyback offer returns our down payment and the payments that we've made so far, essentially setting us back to us not buying the vehicle in the first place. The cash offer is roughly about half of the buyback offer. We are still deciding which one to take and I will give an update once we decide. We have gotten the vehicle back as of Thursday, and we have been driving it since we only had it for 12 days prior to the almost 5 months in the shop.

I understand the plight and the disease for baristas that was the modification demon horde that got put in line with the charges even for simple modifications. My wife and I love our matcha frappuccino and would get a simple mod of an extra scoop since sometimes scoops vary as we all know.

When I heard about the Free Mod Monday, with the $2 limit, I was excited but didn't read the fine print of one Monday a month. I thought they were starting it to compete with Dunkin's double point Mondays to try to get customers to choose them in the morning, but alas, that wasn't the case.

What's the overall barista take on this? I've talked to some ex-baristas that still get Starbucks and they hate the new reward system in its entirety, especially the money that needs to be spent to get Reserve status.

Well, it's been a long road. For those who haven't seen my posts before, we bought our Tiguan on November 29th and it was in the shop December 1st for its first check engine light for a cylinder 4 misfire. 10 days after we picked it back up, we got the check engine light for the turbo. 4 months later, the dealer installed the turbo update and an airbag light was on for the driver front seat belt igniter. That part is currently back ordered with no ETA.

VW CRG finally emailed us today saying that the buyback was approved. I am not happy with the amount they are offering, but I am going to ask for an additional amount to cover some accessories that we had already bought and the double hit to our credit for the initial purchase and then paying off the loan for the buyback.

This was our 7th Volkswagen, and unfortunately, might end up being our last. We will see what a few years from now brings. I knew a new model could possibly have issues, and when it first happened we kind of rolled with it as I work in the industry and I know things happen. Unfortunately, the case manager, and their slow response to the buyback, has left a bad taste in our mouth.

I hope everyone gets lucky with their Tiguan's, we really enjoyed it for the 12 days we had it.
