05/12/26 - World Cup ender
FWIW: anyone watching the World Cup this summer will never hear the phrase ‘PKs’.
They’re just known as penalties, and if we’re going shorter, pens. Most people will say ‘it went to pens’ / ‘they won on pens’.
To be pedantic, the term for ‘penalties’ as an event is a penalty shoot-out, so a game will be won by a penalty kick during a penalty shoot out. It’s never ‘penalty kicks’.
A lot of the commentary teams are British even for Fox so you’ll probably hear the regular football phraseology like you do with the NBC commentary for PL football.
