These recent chapters are going crazy so this is probably gonna get buried by mad prince hype moments and aura but her supreme ability has me thinking Cassie is in some way connected to the spell.
With the nightmare spell calling the tools it creates memories (interesting choice of words) and the general way nightmares function, creating exact copies of places/people in moments of time, being inside peoples heads constantly. Surely I can’t be the only one who can see maybe a sacred/divine Cassie being able to accomplish basically what the NM spell does.
We see the mad prince was clearly independent and Cassie had no authority over him. Very similar to the beings in nightmares. But then of course there’s echoes which seem to be loyal to whoever they are bound to.
I think this is a pretty solid theory as the similarities are undeniable. Whether or not the spell is some future version of her I’m not sure. I seem to recall at the end of the forgotten shore Sunny commenting on the nightmare spell sounding familiar. Yet of course it’s weird no one else close to Cassie has had this thought too.
