Navigating autonomy and safety in a senior refusing essential assistance.

My father resides alone and is exhibiting signs of self-neglect, including nutritional issues and a declining living environment. He is currently cognitively capable of refusing care and becomes defensive when the topic of home assistance is raised. I am seeking guidance on how to introduce support without triggering a power struggle. Has anyone successfully used "stealth" care or third-party interventions to ensure safety while respecting a parent's need for independence?

Should an inspector have flagged a musty smell that appeared after we moved in?

During the walkthrough I didn’t smell anything. But after we moved our furniture in, there’s this musty odor in the guest bedroom. Maybe they covered it up with air freshener? Their report says no signs of moisture intrusion but now I’m not so sure.

Cosmetology license verification fail

Salon owners and beauty pros, ever had a stylist slip through cosmetology license verification? Happened to me, hired a licensed esthetician who botched laser treatments because her CA cosmetology license verification was fake. Client burns, bad Yelp reviews, and a refund nightmare. Now I'm paranoid about every hire. In a competitive market, you need quick cosmetology license verification without state portal logins every time. Our state's board is slow AF, and multi-state chains are exploding. What's your verification SOP? We're a 10-chair shop expanding to NV. Don't want to repeat this mistake.

Enterprise AI consulting for data teams

Our analytics team is being pushed to incorporate AI into reporting and forecasting, but we lack experience in that area. Leadership is considering enterprise AI consulting, but there’s skepticism about whether it will deliver real value or just high-level recommendations.

For data teams that have gone through this, did consulting help you level up, or was it better to build capabilities internally?

How are you adjusting sprint planning with AI in the mix?

I’ve been supporting a few teams that have heavily integrated AI coding tools, and something about our sprint planning feels off. We’re still using velocity the same way, for capacity planning and commitments but the actual work inside a sprint looks different now. Coding tasks move faster, but review and refinement can take longer because there’s more code and sometimes more iteration. So even if total velocity doesn’t change much, how that effort is distributed clearly has. I’m not sure whether we should be adjusting how we think about capacity, or if we just accept that velocity stays the same and the work shifts underneath it. Is anyone else rethinking this, or are you keeping things as-is?
