▲ 3 r/cancer

My father was diagnosed with stage 4 duodenal cancer in 2020 and had chemo then a Whipple procedure mid 2021, followed by more chemo. Since then, he has had no evidence of disease/reoccurrence (a liver lesion had remained but not changed at all since end of chemo). He has been having regular CT scans (currently on a 6 month schedule and was supposed to have his next scan mid-August).

He had some massive bruising on his thigh about a month ago that was written off as an injury while gardening as he had his knee replaced a year ago. He recently found a lump in his groin (measured 4.5 cm with imaging) and is going to have a biopsy done ASAP as a CT ruled out a hematoma and the oncologist is concerned it is metastasis. Nothing was noted at his last CT in February.

I was wondering if anyone here had experience with distant lymph node metastasis, specifically with a small bowel cancer.

My mom died of ovarian cancer in 2023 and I’m an only child, so I’m kind of losing my mind with worry right now.
