I 31F am planning a trip to Mumbai from UK as a solo traveller in Sept of this year. I will be travelling UK - Mumbai (BOM) alone, meeting a friend in Mumbai (who is also female). I am hoping to stay with her family for the week and will be with her almost all of the time. She is Indian and I am an extremely pale and blonde British woman! I have been to India previously but last time with my husband. My husband is a bit concerned. He is not going to stop me and has no reason that he doesn't want me to go aside from concerns about my safety. I believe that if I stay with my friend and go about with her (she is born and bred in Mumbai and knows the City well) I shall be safe and fine but he continues to be worried and unsure. I also have some worries given my husband and family's worry. I don't want to be selfish but I also feel quite strongly that this is something I want to do for me, I feel like I don't want my life and sense of joy to shrink because of safety concerns. However, I would appreciate any honest thoughts on my position and tips on ensuring safety etc before going. Thanks in advance for your constructive and respectful ideas and thoughts :-)
