Hey guys, looking at buying a 5th wheel but I’m becoming hesitant seeing everyone say it’s the same cost if not more than having a house!

Back Story: I travel for work, all over the US and work outages at nuclear plants. I normally settle into one spot for about 6-8 weeks at a time. On these trips, I sometimes travel alone and book a $1500 a month airbnb. Sometimes my wife and daughter will join which will jump the price to around $2500 since I’m fine with more of a smaller run down place to sleep at. Combine that with my $1800 rent back home, we’re sitting at $4300 a month in rent when she joins.

Would definitely probably go with a 2025 grand designs solitude 388mbs so we can make a nursery. Already have the truck to pull it. Would probably put 20% down on it and would get it used of course. I’d say our monthly bills when I’m not working are roughly $4,500. So my question is, is it cheaper? We have talked about potentially doing away with the house entirely once my wife has adjusted so we can save a good bit more for land and a house. We also have a spot to park the camper at home on some relatives land for free when we visit.
