▲ 1 r/POTS

Searching for some relief on this topic. For the past ~6 months, I have randomly, occasionally felt completely devoid of air for 1-2 seconds. It's like the air in my body has been cut off, like someone has pinched my airway. It's not that I can't get a good breath. It's more like I don't breathe at all and have to gasp. A hot flash runs quickly through my body (I'm sure because of the panic), and then it's over. It usually occurs when I'm sitting in a chair, sometimes lying down.

When this first started, I was in a major flare-up, and my anxiety was through the roof about it. It was occurring more often at that point. Since then, it has still happened on occasion when I am not necessarily in a flare or feeling anxious.

I started taking Zoloft after these occurrences first started to treat my heart palpitations caused by POTS and to treat anxiety. I've since been diagnosed with OCD, specifically health-related. I am still on 50mg. I mentioned this to my neurology nurse, and he didn't seem to think anything about it. Said it could just be angina. He ordered an EKG that day just to confirm, and it came back normal.

Has anyone else experienced this? I don't believe this is air hunger necessarily, or is it?

Edit: I have considered panic disorder as a possibility here, but I don't know enough about it to say otherwise. I have experienced panic attacks as an adult and a child, albeit rarely.
