A few months ago, LibrePods was released:

This app allowed Apple-exclusive features like controlling ANC, ear detection, battery levels, and Conversational Awareness... to work seamlessly on Google Pixels with Android 16 after the March Feature Drop Update and the newest Google Play System update.

Back when it was first released, it required root (on most devices): But thanks to the incredible work of GitHub user kavishdevar and other maintainers of this open-source project, it now just works by installing the app without doing any modification to the system.

It currently only works with Android 16's QPR3 Update, as this version has patched a bug in the Bluetooth stack of Android which allows Librepods to work.

So now I can use more features of my Airpods Pro 3s on my Pixel 9a. So far everything worked great!

I don't know if any other vendor than Google has already shipped an update that fixes this bug: but as far as I understand: this bugfix will probably also be in Android 17: So, there will be a lot more phones that will be able to use it in the future.

Not all features that are available on iPhones are there: but almost all of them:

All the info and the download of the app can be found on the official git repo of LibrePods: https://github.com/kavishdevar/librepods

The app is also now available on the Play Store for free:
But that one doesn't have all the features: only after a one-time purchase of 5€ to unlock all the features to support the project: Which is totally fair in my eyes!

EDIT:
So it is not just Pixel devices that are are supported: but also some Oneplus, Realme and OnePlus Phones:
Here is a small overview of the current support requirements according to the original Dev u/kavishdevar.
