We had to replace about a third of the black locust tongue and groove flooring on our covered deck. The older locust has mellowed to a rich brownish red, and the newer boards are yellow-green. I am going to finish all of it with Cabot timber oil, but am thinking about using a TransTint dye on the new boards to mask the color difference. It would match in the short term, but wondering if in 6-12 months, it would then make the new wood look darker as it darkens. It will never be perfect, but looking for the best longer term solution. Thought?
