Got a decent-sized patio from the previous owners, probably laid many years ago. It’s been done dot-and-dab over an older patio, and quite a few slabs are now rocking.

I’ve only been here under a year (first home), so I don’t have the budget or skills to fully relay it. I just need a short-term fix to stabilise things for a couple of years.

I know the proper solution is likely a full bed relay, but for now I’m after something simpler. A friend suggested lifting the loose slabs, removing the old mortar blobs, and relaying on a full bed, but doing it with a lump hammer and chisel is PAINFULLY slow.

Is there a quicker way to remove the old mortar, or a better short-term fix?
