I just bought a new a Delta shower head,

Cartridge, and handle.

The new cartridge doesn’t fit the valve but the existing cartridge will work with new setup.

The problem is the existing cartridge has a round metal plate on the water intake that has about 1/8” holes for the water flow, I guess a restricter.

So my question do you see any problems with drilling the holes from 1/8” to 1/4” to allow better flow. I already checked and it still will leave plenty of room to cover the valves when handle is in off position.

Anyone familiar with this?
