Hi everyone,
I’m currently in the initial stages of the interview process for a maintenance / facilities-type role with RTX in Andover, MA and wanted to get some insight from people familiar with the company and the area.
The job posting listed a fairly wide salary range (roughly upper $60Ks to low $130Ks), but during an initial recruiter conversation I was told the expected range for the role is closer to the $70K–$80K range.
For context, I have several years of experience in facilities operations and maintenance planning, so I was a bit surprised by the gap between the posted range and what was communicated.
A few questions for anyone who has worked at RTX or in similar environments:
Is it common to see wide posted ranges but offers coming in toward the lower end?
How flexible are they typically on salary for more experienced candidates?
What has your experience been with workload and expectations in maintenance/planner roles at the Andover site (more structured vs reactive)?
Also trying to understand the location side in case I move forward:
What are some more affordable areas with a reasonable commute to Andover?
Any towns you’d recommend (or avoid) for someone single?
Is commuting from southern NH into MA pretty common for this area?
Just trying to get a realistic picture of both the role and the area before making any decisions.
Appreciate any insight—thanks in advance.
