I have been invited to an anniversary dinner for 150 people at a catered venue with the dress code “business.” This is part of a family reunion, so as far as I know not work related at all. This is taking place in the American South (read: hot and humid) and I am a west coast girl and people say west coast is more casual about everything. What do i wear??

I know “business” sometimes equates to cocktail or business cocktail but with more coverage and less color, but does that hold true for a purely social event? Can i wear a short cotton floral dress? Please help. TIA
